Pneumonanthe parryi Engelm. Also Called: Blue gentian, pleated gentian, parry's gentian, bottle gentian, puff gentian. Flowering Period: July, August, September Family: Gentian ( Gentianaceae ) Height: up to 15" Life Span: Perennial Stems: Erect, leafy,and purple stems. Leaves: Leaves are opposite, up to 1 1/2" longļ¼ oval, bluish green and smooth. Flowers: Flowers are barrel-shapped, to 2" long. Normally azure blue but can be purple or purplish pink. Each stem has 1 - 3 flowers. Each flower has 5 narrow sepals and 5 petals. Habitat: Moist meadow, stream banks, forest borders, alpine tundra, and subalpine meadows.
